What is Your Legacy?
by Pastor Mark Beaird

Maybe the desire to leave a legacy seems more like a "guy thing," after all, most of the statues we see are of men and almost all buildings named for someone are named for men - unless a man built it to honor his wife and her name was placed on it. However, in reality leaving a legacy is not about statues and buildings. It is not about having one's name in the history books. A legacy is a heritage left for others and not to be confused with fame or notoriety.
In fact, I think the desire to leave a legacy should be the pursuit of us all. To leave a legacy is to leave something of oneself in the life and heart of others. In light of this, the question is, "What will the works of our life enable us to leave in the lives of others?" What seeds are we planting? What investments in the lives of others are we making? Only time will tell what opportunities we will have, but the future will certainly reveal what we choose to do with those opportunities.
